Rochester, N.Y., (September 20, 2016) — The Daily Record selected Michael A. Bottar, a member of Bottar Law, PLLC, to receive a 2016 Attorney of the Year Award.

The Daily Record’s Attorneys of the Year Awards honor outstanding attorneys through the Leaders in Law and Top Counsel awards.  The Leaders in Law Award is presented to attorneys who demonstrate professional accomplishment, exceptional character, integrity and ethics, and commitment to their clients and the community.  The Top Counsel Award honors in-house or general counsel, who have a positive impact on the company or organization they serve and who demonstrate exceptional character, integrity and ethics. In addition, they must show a significant contribution to the success of their client.

Michael A. Bottar, Esq., an an attorney representing the the victims of negligence and malpractice throughout the State of New York, was re-elected this month to the Board of Directors of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. The New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers is a 1700 member organization that is committed to protecting, preserving and enhancing the civil justice system.

Michael Bottar is also an adjunct professor at Syracuse University College of Law, where he co-authors the Civil Practice chapter of the Syracuse Law Review Survey, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association.

Michael A. Bottar, Esq., a Syracuse personal injury attorney with Bottar Law, PLLC, was named to the adjunct legal faculty at Syracuse University College of Law. As an adjunct professor, Mr. Bottar teaches an upper-level legal skills course on law practice management.

Mr. Bottar is a summa cum laude graduate of the College of Law where, prior to graduating, he was a member and executive editor of the Syracuse Law Review, a member and competition co-director of the Moot Court Honor Society, and was inducted into the Order if the Coif, Order of Barristers and Justinian Honorary Law Society. He also received the law school’s Robert W. Miller Award (for trial advocacy), the Robert M. Anderson Award (for scholarly publication) and the Moot Court Team Award.

Mr. Bottar is a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and is AVVO rated “Superb.” He is the author of “Robbing Peter To Pay Paul: Medicaid Liens, Supplemental Needs Trusts and Personal Injury Recoveries on Behalf of Infants In New York State Following the Gold Decision,” and is the co-author of the Civil Practice chapter of the 2009-10 Syracuse Law Review Survey on New York Law.
